Online Banking Temporarily Offline

Valued First Community Bank customers,

Please be advised that our core and online banking systems are temporarily offline.  The bank utilizes the Phoenix core processing system provided by the Finastra company.  This is the back-end system that processes daily transactions and posts updates to accounts and other financial records, including online banking.  Finastra has a global footprint with $1.9 billion in annual revenue, 10,000 employees and over 9,000 customers, including 90 of the top 100 banks globally.

We were recently notified by Finastra that anomalous activity had been detected on its systems and they immediately took a number of servers offline as a result.  An investigation was conducted to determine the scope of the incident.  We strongly believe that the incident was the result of a ransomware attack.  We do not have any evidence that customer data was accessed or exfiltrated, nor do we believe the First Community Bank network has been impacted in any way. At this time we are conducting a rigorous review of our systems to ensure that customer data continues to be safe and secure.

First Community Bank takes data security very seriously.   We are especially aware that the timing of the incident is concerning, given current conditions.  Rest assured we are working with Finastra and relevant authorities to resolve the issue as quickly and diligently as possible and bring our system back online.
